net8-problem and linux

hello,

we are planning to migrate a nt-database to linux. therefore i installed the
oracle 8.1.6 enterprise edition on suse linux 7.0. the net8 configuration was
done
by netasst. the installation was successful, the instance is running and the
connect via sqlplus and ipc on the db-server is possible.

access to the db from a win2000-client via net8 is possible without problems. but when i'm trying to connect via sqlplus and net8 on the server there
are
two kind of several errors:

  1. in most case i get a tns-12154 error (... could not resolve service-name). the tnsnames.ora is the same that works fine on the win2000-client. the TNS_ADMIN environment-variable is set correctly. one time i changed the sqlnet.ora and removed all lines but the NAME.DEFAULT_DOMAIN-entry without a linefeed after that entry. after that it was possible to make a net8-connection with client and server on the same machine. then i simply added a linefeed and got the tns-12154-error. now, even when i remove the linefeed the error is still the same.
  2. when i delete the sqlnet.ora-file i get a ora-06401 error (NETCMN invalid driver designator).

it seems to me that the problem is only a problem of the net8-client. unfortunately i'm not very experienced in linux.

my questions are:

has anyone installed oracle 8.1.6 EE on (SuSE 7.0) linux without problems?
has anyone got the same problems and found a solution? are there special things to be aware off, when trying to make a net8-connection to a db-server on the same machine?

thanks in advance
