Connecting to Oracle Server after workstation loses power

We currently have Oracle 8.0.4.0.0 running on WinNT 4.0 SP5. Our shop has occasional power problems and when power goes out on a workstation that has a transaction open, after the workstation reboots, it cannot connect to the Oracle server. The only thing I can do to re-establish the connection is reboot the server (or start and stop all oracles services). Of course, this is inconveniant because I must have all remaining users log out.

Is there something else I can do?

Is there a patch that takes care of this? Would loading service pack 6 on Winnt do anything? (Is a current maintenance contract with Oracle required to download patches?) Received on Mon Oct 02 2000 - 16:06:23 CDT
