storing/displaying PDF in Oracle 8i

I'm sure this has been asked (although I haven't found a good answer yet)...

How does one store Adobe Acrobat PDF files in an Oracle 8i database and them retrieve them to be displayed by Acrobat Reader? We are running 8.1.6 on an HP 9000 running HP-UX 11.0. Does this require interMedia? Oracle Internet Filesystem? or maybe just effective use of the DBMS_LOB package?

DISCLAIMER -- I am an experienced Oracle DBA but not an experienced Oracle developer. Our development staff has come to the DBAs with this need and I would like to be able to give them a decent answer - which is why I come to the font of all Oracle wisdom ....
