coalesce index

Is the "coalesce index" feature only available on 8i Release 2 Enterprise and not on Standard? Up until now I have only worked with the Enterprise edition, but I recently had to implement an application on Standard edition and when I tried to perform a "colesce index" I received an ora-00439 error. I looked in V$OPTION and saw that the feature is set to FALSE.
