Oracle 8 CLOB in Crystal Reports

How could one display long and "formated" text
(only carriage return, no fonts required) stored in a CLOB-field
in a report created with Crystal Reports 7 ??? It seems like Crystal only allows to display pictures from a BLOB.

Does there exist an alternative way to store and display long texts?
(no VARCHAR2 because the CRs should be taken account of)
