Just curious.

What is the signifcance of the date 1987/10/8 with respect to Oracle ?

It is used as the basedate of one of their internal timestamps.

i.e.

 404479566 = 2000/08/01 11:26:06

 Is the number of seconds since 1987/10/8 00:00:00 Received on Fri Aug 04 2000 - 00:00:00 CDT
