Redefining keywords?

I must name one of the columns in one of my tables "percent". I have very little choice about doing so - if we don't do it, we lose a significant portion of functionality, no two ways about it.

Problem is, Oracle doesn't allow you to name a column "percent". It's a keyword.

However, I found the following statement on technet.oracle.com:

"Keywords (...) have a special meaning to Oracle but are not reserved words and so can be redefined."

But I can't find anywhere instructions on how to redefine a keyword. Does anyone know?

Thanks,
