simple question

I am new in oracle, I have installed my oracle 8i successfully,

I created a database called j.

in the dba studio, the service was named as j.sybase.com

but it reported that cannot resolve the service name? error message ora 12154

how can I get right service name? what is it? how can I get the errro message from my local computer? which menu does it belong?
