Re: Oracle on Linux, how reliable?

I can't point you to official documents containing benchmarks or relevant information concerning the performance and stability of Oracle on Linux.. However in our R&D lab we switched our development from Oracle 805 on NT, to 805 on SuSe linux 6.0. We are experiencing about 60% increase in performance, and the machine hasn't been down since we installed it about 6 months ago... It is in fact the exact same machine ( Pentium III 500, 256 MB ), only the OS is different. The database is an exact copy, therefore we can rule out performance increase due to change of settings. Since it's a development database we often stress it (recursive functions, etc. ) and it holds really fine. I've become really fond of Oracle on Linux, however I don't know if it's a real valid conclusion, since I only experience our specific situation. But I thought: if enough people tell you about their specific situation, you could probably extract some usefull information.
