Oracle8i Client install problem

I am trying to install Oracle8i Client (8.1.5) on a Windows98 PC.

It breaks right away with the following (in Details of the pop-up):

JREW caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 015f:bff886be.

Also in C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\OraInstall\OraInstall.err you it posts this:

Error accessing the registryoracle.sysman.oii.oiil.OiilNativeException: KeyNotFound

Note: I have 64M memory (and before that I successfully installed the same product on a 32M Windows95 PC!). Is this a registry related problem as hinted in the OraInstall.err file? I have no clue now and would appreciate any help.
