Wouldn't have a clue about how it measures up against the rest of the world, but you could maybe enquire about the Queensland (Australia) land registry database, which from memory of a few students runs to the teens of terabytes.

Probably tiny in the great scheme of things, but I believe it to be the biggest in Australia by some way (wait for the inevitable deluge of 'rubbish!' comments!!)

Last time I checked, they were generating 500Mb of redo every ten minutes or so.

Impressed me, anyway!!
