I'm not sure about Oracle 7.3.4, but in Oracle 8, you can pass a PL/SQL array as a parameter without using a REF_CURSOR. Among the various ways of doing this is:

Create a package my_package with type declarations TYPE my_type IS TABLE OF VARCHAR2(30) INDEX BY NATURAL;
Declare your parameter as my_package.my_type. PROCEDURE my_procedure (my_parameter IN my_package.my_type) IS

Please let us know whether this is possible in Oracle 7.3.4.
