Multiple Databases/SIDs

I have several customers who use Oracle and I would like to store their databases on my computer. I'm using personnel Oracle 8. I have one database, no problem. I can't figure out a way to create another database connection so I can access a new one. Every time I create a new database connection and select Bequeth-Local Database, it just makes a pointer to the database I already have. I am unable to enter anything other than ORCL in the SID area. There is no mention ANYWHERE in the help (that I can find) on how to create another database SID.

I used Oracle 7.3 way back and remember it was a pain trying to create a new database SID.

Is it just something I am missing or is Oracle preventing me from doing (what should be) a very simple task. I can create as many databases as I want using SQL Anywhere and MS SQL Server.

Any help would be appreciated.

Gary
