We have a cluster of two Netscape Application Servers connected to two
Oracle 8.1.5 databases through 8.0.4 clients. Periodically, the
database connections will fail, giving the following error messages to
the kjs log :
[29/Mar/2000 11:18:04:7] warning: ORCL-002: CreateConnInternal olog():
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name
[29/Mar/2000 11:13:55:2] warning: ORCL-027: CreateConn: failed to create
connection
connect failed: [new connection]:
DSN=SPRD,DB=SPRD.WORLD,USER=seenet,PASS=xxxxxx
As mentioned, the problem is intermittent and occasionally clears itself up, but often one has to "bounce" the nas servers to recover.
An odd thing is that while this is occuring , tnsping and sqlplus both seem to work.
Another strange thing is that the TNS error should also be logged to sqlnet.log and is not and we are unable to get NAS's connections to sqlnet to trace ( configuring sqlnet.ora should cause all sqlnet connections to be traced).
Our tnsnames.ora is correct as NAS mostly woks fine, and tnsping and sqlplus through the same connection work.
Which leads to my questions:
1) Has anybody seen this behaviour ? If so did you correct it and how ?
2) Any ideas on how to enable sqlnet tracing in NAS ?
Thanks for any help.
