Domain index stuck in 'IN PRGRS' status

Occasionally one of 5 domain indexes we have created for Context gets stuck loading in perpetuity. We drop it with a force and recreate it...that's fine. But I'm trying to figure out what would cause it to get stuck loading like that...any ideas?

We're working on using the Context server however, it coredumps every time we try to start it, so kornshells are run from the crontab to drop/recreate & optimize the indexes, but it never happens when these scripts are run against it.

Anyone else had any problem with indexes sutck in that status?
