I am seeing the same ORA-01110 error occurring only in one instance (8.0.5 on NT 4 SP 5). Here's the alert log text.

Fri Mar 17 21:21:38 2000
Errors in file E:\LLG\trace\ORA00355.TRC: ORA-01110: data file : ''
Instance terminated by CKPT, pid = 438

The only other clue is a rather benign SQL statement identified in the trace file.

Since the 1110 error failed to identify the datafile, I cross-ref'd the table in the SQL statement to its datafile and did a dbv. The file checked out cleanly.

Any ideas???

TIA,
Rich
