 Percy - the dbms doesn't care what sort of drivers/client you connect with - in SQL server's case it just sees TDS packets which is all it understands.  

 They're both great products, but most eval's show SQL Server is easy to use/maintain. (SQL Server has the world record tpcc benchmark now on any platform)
