No Oracle 8.0.x for Windows 2000 (!?!?)

In response to my queries to Oracle, Corporation, regarding certification of Oracle 8.0.x for Windows 2000, I have been told that Oracle Development has stated that Oracle will require customers to upgrade their database to Oracle8i Release 2 first before upgrading to Windows 2000. In particular, there are no plans to certify Oracle 8.0.x for Windows 2000.

I am totally dumbfounded by this position, particularly with regard to Oracle 8.0.x, in light of the fact that Oracle 8.1.6 for any Windows platform is not yet commercially available!! I would ask all those with a similar reaction to make your concerns known to Oracle. Oracle admits that, as recently as last September, a Windows 2000 certification for Oracle 8.0.6 was in the plan. Perhaps with enough response from the Oracle 8.0 customer base it can become part of the plan again!

Thank you for your support!!
