Can Ent. Console connect over firewall?

Can Enterprise Manager Console connect to the EM server accross a firewall (or over ssh redirected ports)? I wrote a quick little port scanner and determined that the NT box that OEM server was running on is listening on ports 7711 and 7712. I redirected those ports, but when OEM consoles tries to connect, it just hangs.

If anyone has successfully done this, let me know.
