insert into a varchar(4000) with ODBC

my config :
server Oracle 8.05 on NT4
client : Oracle 8.05, Access 97 with ODBC oracle 8.05 ( and test with ODBC8.058) I have some table with Field in Varchar2(4000) but with my linked table in Access I can't insert text more than 2000 char long (like 7.3.4) does some one have an idea

for info I have tested the new ODBC driver 8.0.58 (virtual : it's date is 01/03/2000) and I have deceased by 2 my time to link the tables in Access 97
