Binding NVARCHAR2 Variables

I have a database procedure in which some of the parameters are
NVARCHAR2.  These parameters and OUT or IN/OUT.  I would like to bind
3GL variables to these parameters from C or Perl, but I keep getting a
character set mismatch error.



Has anyone bound 3GL variables to an NVARCHAR2 field?  



Your help is greatly appreciated!
