How many listeners?

We have an Oracle Server 7.3.4 and OWS 2.1 with dozens of listeners (ok, 17 by now) all running on port 80 because of the firewall. (I discovered, that this is made possible by setting up the listener on any port and then opening sv<listener>.cfg and setting the port on 80). The system seems to run quite stable, although one or another listener hangs sometimes, but can easily be restarted. We have a perlscript to handle this. The problem is, that we will be needing additional listeners in the future. Does anyone know, how many listeners OWS 2.1 can deal with?? Will it be better to migrate to OAS 4.0, or setting up another server?

Thanks for any hints.
