ORA-12709: installation on Linux RedHat 5.2

Hello,

I 've installed Oracle 8.0.5 for Linux. My linux distribution is RedHat 5.2. When I try to startup the database by executing the svrmgrl command
"startup" I get the following error:

"ORA-12709: error while loading create database character set"

Any idea about it?,
