Have you attempted to use Enterprise Manager and Oracle Storage Manager?

Once you get Enterprise manager set up properly (make sure you download the patches for the OEM console for NT SP4+ installations), it provides a nice GUI interface for doing job scheduling, including scheduling hot backups with Oracle Storage Manager.
