Tablespace fragmentation

I'm looking for advice on tablespace fragmentation.

A number of objects on a number of accounts write to the same tablespace. Some of these are volatile and this is causing alot of fragmentation.I end up having alot of free tablespace space but not contigious enough to create new objects or do reorganisations of existing objects.

I was wondering if you could suggest options other than exporting everything, dropping the objects and starting as such from a clean slate. I just wonder if there are any interim steps that I could take to help things.

We are on Oracle 7.3.4. Any help appreciated.

Regards
