You can download Oracle 8i for Linux for personal use, and it's free. I've used Oracle 8.0.5 under RedHat 6.0, and there were a few problems, but Oracle released a patch which resolved the problem. I'm not sure what the windows NT version is retails for, but I don't think Oracle is allowing personal use of that server.
