We have Oracle 8i enterprise ( 8.1.5) on UW 7.1 installed on UW 7.1 since 6 month without problem ... and we developp and running JSP app with Jserv and Apache .

 complete Install was been do very nice ( mutch better than Linux)

What JRE version are you using ? --- it's Java(tm) Runtime Loader Version 1.1.7A ) ?
what jdk --- it's java version "1.1.7A" your CLASSPATH in Oracle8i at blank
 your LD_LIBRARY_PATH=:/home11/oracle8i/lib:/usr/java/lib

in what phase install abort or cause problem ( after or before create

database) ?
