Seems like most older versions of "orainst.exe" are not y2k compliant. I'm trying to install "Personal Oracle 7", and Developer 2000 Forms and "orainst.exe" crashes the second time it is run.

I verified this by reinstalling the PC from scratch. Then I set the date to 1999 just before I installed Oracle components and changed it back after installation. This works just fine.

Before you attempt to reinstall with a fake pre-y2k date, delete everything. Just uninstalling does not do the trick but it is the first step. After that delete "c:\program files\ora*". Also run "regedit" and remove the key "HKLM\Software\Oracle".

Unfortunately this is no solution for me since I'm writing an unattend-type script for installing client-pcs which will not include manipulating system dates. At least I still have some hope I can get a better solution.

Best regards
