1000 people could be more than it can handle...of course, it all depends on how/what its to be used for...1000 people not all of which are concurrent coming through a TP is far different to 1000 data warehouse users going ballistic...

I would say that minimum oracle requirement for AIX would be 256M with 1 or 2 processors - that would suffice as a small "departmental" server...

The more users you have the more variability that comes into play when selecting a larger server...
