mSql

MySQL

PostGres (or PostGreSQL)

Do a net search to find them.

I've used MySQL. It does all the basics very well. I've read that PostGres is the most fully featured.

They all run at least on linux. Installing MySQL on linux (from a precompiled binary) was trivial. I know there are windows 95/NT versions of MySQL and postgres, but I don't what is involved in making them run.
