I last did this two years ago so I might be wrong, but either developer installed in a different directory or if they installed in the same memory the version numbers were not the same. I remember that I didn't have any problems installing both 7.3 and 8.0 clients on the same PC, but the best way is just go ahead and install them both and see what happens. When the installer asks for the directory name if it is different use it. If not change it. For example if you are using the default location for 8.0 use ORAWIN7x for your Oracle 7 clients.
