Hello,

can someone give me a detailed description, how to install a database link between an oracle server and an other non-Oracle database using an ODBC-connection ?

I got an oracle7.3.3 / oracle8 server which should be connected via database link to the non-Oracle database. This link will only be used, to get table data.
Creating a database link between two ORACLE-databases works fine. Also the ODBC-connect with SQL*Plus to the non-Oracle System. But how do i create a working database link between the systems ? Do I have to use a transparent gateway ? Do I have to create a service ? If so, how do I create this service ? Are there entries in listener.ora and tnsnames.ora ? What other things should be mentioned ?

Thanks for any help !!!
