Bugs in Oracle 8.0.5 and ADO?

One of my coworkers has been working on an app using VB6 and ADO, talking to an Oracle database. Things were working fine when our server was running 8.0.3, but we upgraded the server to 8.0.5 (because the customer we'll be delivering this to is running 8.0.5).

And suddenly the app stopped working. Pulling data from some tables works fine, others only returns some of the records, others just hang the app.

Oracle support says there are a great many known issues with Oracle and ADO, and that they are working on their own ADO drivers, but this isn't ready now.

I find it hard to believe that somebody hasn't made this work.

Where do I look for ideas?

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked ...A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work. You have to start over, beginning with a working simple system.
