Excuse me? No pinging mentioned... But anyway, I find it an intriging
problem.
Do you have a listener running and listening for incoming TCP traffic?
Is you (dial up) client configured to connect to oracle using tcp? Or does
it use named pipes, spx, whatever? If so, does you dialup connection
support these protocols?
Can't imagine yuo have no listener, as only bequeth can connect without
listener, but not to a remote machine.
If you mail the listener.ora file of the (remote) server, and the
tnsnames.ora
and the sqlnet.ora files of the (dial up) client, I might be able to give
some
advise, instead of asking questions.
