Blocks and multiple tables

Hello.

I would like to be able to have a block display 10 records at a time. This is quite easy for a block that is getting data from only one table. However, I need to also include a field from another table. The data for these two tables are related in such a way that there is a one- to-one relationship. How can I set up my form so that I have fields from multiple tables in the same block?
