Actually it needn't cause them hassle.
ms world could look like
MS-Datacenter server (running sql server natch)
MS Application farms (running dcom objects to do the application work, MSMQ
server coming in here)
MS Terminal Server - to provide backend services for thin clients
Thin terminal (winCE even?)
Is that horrible enough yet?
