I confirm. Having only certification is only 30% of the knowledge you need
to work well in Oracle DBA or developer.
I have now 2-3 years of Dev2000 + DBA Oracle 8 experience. Else, I've done
the MCSE + I (nt4, nt4 entreprise, iis4, proxy s., exchange server, tcpip,
net. essentials, etc..) which is a lot of certifications.. and it helped me
a lot to understand better diff. technology.. I have now 9 years of IT
experience and 5 years of IT Manager..
the combination experiences + MCSE+I + OCP (adm, dev).. is very powerfull
!!!!!
and my salary growed + 150% in the last 3 years..
remember: the most important is the experience and the projects you finnished well.
Good luck
