I confirm. Having only certification is only 30% of the knowledge you need to work well in Oracle DBA or developer. I have now 2-3 years of Dev2000 + DBA Oracle 8 experience. Else, I've done the MCSE + I (nt4, nt4 entreprise, iis4, proxy s., exchange server, tcpip, net. essentials, etc..) which is a lot of certifications.. and it helped me a lot to understand better diff. technology.. I have now 9 years of IT experience and 5 years of IT Manager..

the combination experiences + MCSE+I + OCP (adm, dev).. is very powerfull !!!!!
and my salary growed + 150% in the last 3 years..

remember: the most important is the experience and the projects you finnished well.
