OAS 4.0.7 randomly stops accepting logins

Hi all,

I am using OAS 4.0.7 (single node)+Oracle8 8.0.5 running under Digital UNIX 4.0E. The site is made up of two applications, one PL/SQL and one LiveHTML (this one just serves graphics, style sheets and other static stuff to the PL/SQL pages). Client browsers are IE4 and IE5 only.

The PL/SQL app is using a DAD w/o username and password - relying on DB authentication. The LiveHTML app has no security in place at all.

What happens is this: Sometimes, the PL/SQL application stops accepting valid logins (the browser pops up the authentication dialog at any page access). When this happens, it happens for all instances of the application and for all the credentials.

The only "cure" we found so far is to reload the OAS site - but we haven't tried with lesser restarts. An ugly thing about this is that we are not able to reproduce it. We wrote a heavy load simulator which can run successfully for days, then with ten users connected it happens twice in three hours.

The system must go live next week - please help if you can!

TIA Florin
