Oracle 8 PE vs. Win2k RC2

My attempts to install Oracle 8 Personal Edition on a Win2K RC2 machine end in failure with an error dialog stating:

stopsrvc.vrf(78): Type mismatch in argument'0' when calling 'contains'   stopsrvc.vrf(78): 'STRING' expected when 'LIST' found

Is there a fix or workaround for this?

This install, BTW, works fine on an NT4SP4 machine.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, pointers, etc.
