Oracle Client install problem

I am trying to install the Oracle Client version 8.05 onto a Windows 95 machine. Everytime I run the install I recieve a illegal operation. I have shutdown all running application. Only Systray and Explorer are running when I perfrom the install. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I believe the Oracle Client was install once. However due to problems we had to manually remove and have not been able to re-install.
