Installing Oracle 8i on Mandrake 6.1

Has anyone successfully installed Oracle 8i on Mandrake Linux 6.1 (with
blackdown JRE 1.1.6)?  I keep getting "argument too long" error when
running the 'runInstaller' script.  I had no problem installing on
RedHat 6.0.  Isn't Mandrake supposed to be 100% RedHat compatible?
