7.3.3 to 8.1.5 upgrade

When attempting an upgrade of a 7.3.3 instance to a 8.1.5 instance, the migration utility (mig) seems to be hanging when creating a simple table, i.e.

    create table source$ as select * from sys.source$;

I think I have set up the environment to be able to perform this migration, i.e. 7.3.3 environment, 8.1.5 environment, tablespace checks, etc., but this consistently hangs at this point.

Anybody else experience this problem, and if so what's the solution.
