Speeding up Queries

I have an application that we are porting from Paradox to Oracle. A simple join query in Paradox takes about 3 seconds and in Oracle it takes 12. I am new to Oracle and wondering if this normal or am I missing something? What are the most common steps that will speed up a query in Oracle. Received on Fri Sep 10 1999 - 10:39:42 CDT
