Hi,



I apologise in advance for the extreme newbieness of this Q.



I am using SQL Plus to create Oracle tables.  How do I give a name to
the whole database - I believe this is called an instance?  I need to do
this in order to be able to reference it in a Java program.  As I am so
new to this I would appreciate a very simple answer if poss.
