Oracle8i & runInstaller

Hello People,

I am trying to install Oracle8i, but I got problems running the runInstaller.

This is what I get :

/cdrom$ ./runInstaller

Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /usr/local/jre/bin/jre. Please wait...
/cdrom$

It doesn't seem to be doing anything. So I went in /cdrom/install/linux and I invoked both the runInstaller and runIns.sh under that directory and I got the following:

/cdrom/install/linux$ ./runInstaller

Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /usr/local/jre/bin/jre. Please wait...
Segmentation fault
/cdrom/install/linux$

/cdrom/install/linux$ ./runIns.sh

The last one seems invokes correctly the oracle installer but once I am at the Inventory Location dialog I cannot seem to be able to get passed it, even when I go manually and create the directory tree.

I am running Slackware 2.2.6, glibc2.1.1 and jre117; I also tried a number of different window managers.

Does anybody have any clue of what's happening?

Thank you,

George. Received on Thu Sep 02 1999 - 18:51:11 CDT
