Thanks everybody...It seems as though the consensus is that the CR/LF is there and that I'm just not able to view it with a text viewer.

I think I'll produce the file and send it out and see if the system on the other end will read it properly...I think it will. I don't know what kind of system it is...I'm just working from a set of specs at this point...if there are any further problems, I'll have to get some specific info from the other side.

I still don't quite understand why I can't go to the end of the line and hit the arrow key and have it jump me to the next line...I can do this with notepad (for example) using a hard "return" and I wouild expect my text file to behave the same way...not necessarily "look" the same way, but still move me to the next line when I get to the end of one line. Maybe I'm just being stubborn...I'll get over it!
