Can't get Visibroker client to connect to Oracle JServer

I have loaded Java classes onto Oracle (i.e. JServer) and am trying to establish a CORBA connection to a JServer-published class. This I have done successfully using the Oracle-brewed Visibroker Client, but here's the rub: I cannot get a "pure" Visibroker client, using some Java 1.2 classes, to connect (Oracle/JServer only supports Java 1.1.6, although this shouldn't matter since it is server-side). My Visibroker client also is a CORBA server for others. The problem may be due to conflicts with different versions of Visibroker stuff. The client fails trying to do an InitialContext lookup (which also handles th DB login). Has anyone done this successfully (or can toss me a clue?)

Thanks,
