You'll be delighted to read that I've written a program to do all this
and that it is freely available for download (the LITE version that is).
Oraxcel is an addin for MS Excel and it allows you to use Excel as front-end to Oracle databases. No hassles with ODBC reformatting and other daunting issues. Just straightforward SQL and it fetches it all, neatly formatted, into Excel.
