EXPORTING FROM ORACLE V7 TO MS EXCEL

hi oracle wizards,

i'd like to make a query, and then export the results, with tabs between columns and newlines between rows, to a file readable by MS Excel. i believe that i can use SPOOL to do this, but how do i set the column separator to a tab?

more generally, are there better ways to save the results of a query in an external file?
