The OCP is not meant as a measure for competency. It is only an indication that the recipient possesses a minimum level of knowledge. Whether they can apply that knowledge is a whole different manner. It's one thing to talk the talk but a whole different ball of wax to walk the walk.

In my own experience with the exams here are some of the faults that I found:

  1. Too many questions dealt with knowledge of command syntax.
  2. I found the backup and recovery exam questions to be repetitive.
  3. Many of the questions in the tuning exam tested your ability to solve word problems and to make one of many possible inferences.

I also don't understand why you have to take 5 exams, DB2 certification only requires 2 exams with 69 questions each. Oracle could have rolled the questions into 2 or 3 exams with 100 questions each. It certainly drives up the cost of certification.
